Rent Voucher Instructions

Complete the General Assistance application using one of these 4 methods. 

  • Online: Click Online Application to be directed to online application.

  • In-Person:

  1. A General Assistance worker will contact you within 2-3 business days for a phone interview to move forward. You MUST participate in the phone interview to move forward in the Rent Voucher process.

  2. Ask the General Assistance worker to email the Landlord Statement to your current landlord. (rachel@kingdomlivingia.com)

  3. General Assistance will provide you a list of required documents including, but not limited to: Photo ID and Social Security Card. You have 15 DAYS to return these documents, or your application will be denied and you will have to reapply. 

  4. If you need assistance emailing these documents to General Assistance, please contact rachel@kingdomlivingia.com.

  5. When all documents are submitted to General Assistance, they will email your landlord the approval for the Rent Voucher, which will then need to be submitted to Polk County. 

  6. Payment is typically received approximately 15 days after they send the approval.
